City of Derry Jazz Festival

A five day event that attracts 60,000 visitors to the city, the festival hosts world-renowned diverse and exciting jazz and blues acts from all over the world.

The Education Authority Music Service is proud to be part of the festival on an annual basis. The EA jazz band has a regular slot to perform as part of the free jazz trail, showcasing the talents of our young performers from schools across the northwest. In partnership with local schools, our students are also regular participants in workshops and masterclasses with many of the visiting and local luminaries of the jazz world, such as Scott Flanigan and Heavy beat brass band. The Music Service link with the City of Derry Jazz Festival provides local pupils with opportunities to learn and perform with high-calibre and high profile musicians in a world class event.
