Vocal Programme

The EA Music Service offers weekly voice lessons from KS2 onwards. Pupils are taught the technical skills of singing while developing their theoretical knowledge and general musicianship. In addition, vocal students have the opportunity to perform regularly, at showcase events and school concerts.

Assessment opportunities are available, formally with the Trinity graded examination system and informally through participation in local Music Festivals and Feis Competitions.

Musical Pathways to Learning

Musical Pathways to Learning (MPL) is a vocal programme which enables children to develop through music. It can be offered to children from nursery level through to the end of KS2.

This is done using progressive programmes and stimulating activities, including rhymes, songs and games. There is considerable research evidence which demonstrates that the skills learned are transferable across all subjects in the primary curriculum. MPL is a whole class programme, which involves every child; the sessions are 30 minutes long and typically run for 30 weeks over the academic year.
