The ceremony, hosted by the NI Assembly, on behalf of Queens University Belfast and Ulster University, was held to confer Honorary Doctorates on US Special Envoy Dr. Joseph Kennedy III. This is the first time that both Universities have ever combined to jointly bestow such an honour, and is testament to the high esteem in which Dr. Kennedy is held by both institutions.
Our young musicians performed both during the ceremony, and at a reception showcasing their talents before a distinguished audience of political representatives and educators from Northern Ireland and the USA.
The musicians were publicly acknowledged and thanked by the Speaker of NI Assembly, Edwin Poots, and thanked personally by Vice Chancellor of Queens University, Prof. Sir Ian Greer and Chancellor of Ulster University, Dr. Colin Davidson.
Dr. Davidson made quite an impression with some members of our quartet who are studying his works as an artist as part of their GCSE and A Level Studies.
Our thanks go to Ulster of University and Queens University for the invitation to be part of this special event.
