  • Entry is by tutor recommendation and via an audition process
  • Annual membership fee for Western Youth Orchestra is £117.50 (£100 for each additional child) for the academic year 2026/27. The remission cost will be £35.50 (£30 for each additional child).
  • OBE Registration Form emailed to parents of existing members for completion along with WYO new pupils

The Senior Youth Orchestra comprises over 80 young musicians drawn from schools throughout the Western Region area.  The students attend individual lessons and regional rehearsals on a weekly basis, and come together regularly for full orchestral rehearsals.  The repertoire covers a wide variety of styles, combining major symphonic works with popular musicals, film scores and new compositions, as well as traditional and folk music arranged for orchestra.

The Senior Youth Orchestra regularly partake in European Tours.
